Eugenia has recently returned to the Washington, DC area from Boston, MA. A respected professional tribal bellydancer in the DC area, she is a frequent performer at many local venues for tribal bellydance, including Tribal Cafe at Asylum, Palace of Wonders, and bebar, as well as bellydance festivals all over the country. She is co-director of the pure American Tribal Style troupe Sammati, and also performs as a tribal fusion soloist. As a performer, she is known for her grace, solid technique, and musicality. As a teacher, she is known for her humor, scientific breakdown in her instruction, and attentiveness. Having recently completed her Master’s degree in the field of psychophysics with a concentration in human motor learning, she uses knowledge of current research in biomechanics, kinesiology, and neuroscience to inform her teaching methods. With a love of theatrics and hip hop, she constantly experiments with fusing both elements into her solo work, and attempts to create “dance that means something”. Her dance background includes substantive training in tribal fusion, hip hop, American Tribal Style, flamenco, and Level 1 certification in the Suhaila Salimpour format, and she has studied extensively with Mars of Devyani Dance Company and Asharah.
